Resilience

We partner with you to plan, respond, mitigate hazards, and bounce back better after natural and man-made disasters strike.

How is Resilience Defined in Our Industry?

With increasing natural and human-induced disasters, you need a partner who is able to proactively help you to prepare, respond, and recover quickly when they occur.

When it comes to dealing with disasters or other disruptive events for coastal communities, facilities, or critical infrastructure, there are many interpretations of the term “resilience” within the government and private sectors. But they all share some common elements that involve preparedness, ability to survive, and speed of recovery. Resilience is a cycle of preparing, responding, recovering, and adapting after an event or natural disaster so that efforts are improved for future events.

Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Learn About Our Capabilities

The term ‘resilience improvement’ means the use of materials or structural or nonstructural techniques, including natural infrastructure that allow a project to better anticipate, prepare for and adapt to changing conditions and to withstand and respond to disruptions; and to be better able to continue to serve the primary function of the project during and after weather events and natural disasters for the expected life of the project; or reduce the magnitude and duration of impacts of current and future weather events and natural disasters to a project; or have the absorptive capacity, adaptive capacity, and recoverability to decrease project vulnerability to current and future weather events or natural disasters.
