Joel Freehling Appointed by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to the Board of the Clean Energy Jobs and Justice Fund

Celebrating the Newest Board Member

As a demonstrated leader in sustainability; energy finance; and environmental, social, and governance, Joel Freehling graciously accepted his appointment by Governor JB Pritzker to the board of directors of the Illinois Clean Energy Jobs and Justice Fund. This fund will serve as a financing vehicle to support projects focused on equity, environmental justice, and inclusion throughout the state. Considering Joel’s background and experience, we are confident in his leadership ability in Illinois’ just energy transition. “I am very honored by Governor Pritzker’s appointment,” Joel responded. “I look forward to working with the other board members to make the Clean Energy Jobs and Justice Fund a model for an inclusive and equity-focused Green Bank.” Joel has more than 20 years of experience capitalizing energy finance programs with an equity lens. He has been a leader in bringing sustainability and novel financial products to under-served communities, including recent efforts to create a financial model that will promote EV infrastructure installations in low wealth communities. Governor JB Pritzker’s appointment speaks volumes to Joel’s critical voice in guiding the future of clean energy for the state.
