News Flash: US EPA’s e-Manifest Advisory Board To Hold Public Virtual Meeting In October – Update

Last month APTIM told you about the US EPA’s Hazardous Waste Electronic Manifest (e-Manifest) System Advisory Board hosting a public meeting themed “Roadmap to 100% Electronic Manifests” on October 4 through 6. The EPA has since issued a white paper in which they offer specific ideas for consideration. The white paper, supporting documents, and a written comment section can be accessed at www.regulations.gov and typing in the Docket ID: EPA-HQ-OLEM-2022-0611.

The ideas include both regulatory and policy changes such as expanding who can create/sign manifests, utilizing new software, integrating waste vendor systems with the e-Manifest system, and potentially establishing a sunset date for phasing out paper manifests altogether. Discussing these ideas will be the focus of the meeting and APTIM encourages all clients to review the white paper and assess how this will impact their current business activities, leave written comments, and/or participate in the virtual conference.

In order to attend, one must register by noon on September 27 and declare their intentions of making oral comments. This can be done at the following link. An e-mail invitation, including the link and password to the meeting, will be sent the day prior (October 3). Registration Link: https://event.capconcorp.com/form/view.php?id=147468

If you wish to submit written comments, those must be received by September 27 and can be submitted at the following link. Search for the Docket Number (EPA-HQ-OLEM-2022-0611) and click the Comment button. You may type comments and/or upload files as needed. Written Comment Submittal Link: http://www.regulations.gov

If you want to submit comments after the September 27, deadline, you can do so by directly e-mailing Fred Jenkins who is the Designated Federal Officer (DFO). His e-mail is: jenkins.fred@epa.gov.

If you have questions on the ideas proposed for consideration and how they may affect your business operations, contact your APTIM representative.
