Celebrating National Safety Month – APTIM’s Commitment to Safety

June is National Safety Month, an annual observance to promote safe behaviors around the leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths at work, on the road, and in our communities.

At APTIM, safety is not just a goal. It’s a culture – an entire way of doing business. APTIM conducts business with honesty and honor to promote the safety and security of our people while preserving the environment and maintaining quality. “APTIM goes above and beyond the minimum safety requirements for the work that I do,” Jonathan Reagen, APTIM Scientist III.

APTIM is committed to maintaining high standards to protect the health and safety of its employees and subcontractor personnel. Our HSE Fundamental Values are:

  • Accountability: We start by holding ourselves responsible to conduct business in a safe manner and extend our commitment to safety to our coworkers and clients. If You See It, Own It.
  • Culture: We expect employees at all levels of the organization to embrace safety as the foundation for everything we do. “APTIM makes me feel safe by providing and encouraging me to wear my PPE,” Owen Craven, APTIM Staff Geologist.
  • Empowerment: All employees have the authority and obligation to stop unsafe work without the fear of retaliation or retribution.

“At APTIM we choose to be for our teammates every day. The most important way to be for each other is to plan and work in a way that protects the health and wellbeing of others.  We support and empower every APTIM employee to choose to work safely every day, without exception,“ Mark Fallon, APTIM CEO.

APTIM takes great pride in our commitment to safety and it shows. APTIM’s Experience Modification Rate (EMR), Days Away, Restricted or Transfers Rate (DART), and Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) are well below the industry average. APTIM’s Environmental Management System (AMS), has been developed to minimize unsafe conditions and promote safe work practices at work sites, with the fundamental belief that all occupational accidents and injuries can be prevented.

Workplace safety is as important to the employee as to the employer. APTIM’s goal is “Zero Incidents” at all project sites. This commitment includes APTIM’s acceptance of full responsibility for the health and safety of all personnel. “We start every meeting with a safety moment,” Amy Martinez, APTIM’s Retail Market Sector Leader. “Safety is the number one priority whether you work in an office or on a jobsite.  My goal as a manager is to ensure my team returns home safely to their families each and every day. I’m proud to work for a company that honors that commitment.”

APTIM conducts business with honesty and honor to promote the safety and security of our people while preserving the environment and maintaining quality. We live our values by leading and empowering our workforce to be incident free, involving employees in decision making to identify and manage risks, and provide training and programs to promote and enhance our safety culture.

“All APTIM staff, yours and ours, should go home the same way they left for work every day,” Mark Fallon, APTIM CEO.
