Benchmark and improve your venue's sustainability by participating in the annual Sustainable Sport Index (SSI) survey and rankings.
Who Participates?
Since the inaugural SSI survey in 2021, participation has increased by 350%. In 2025, 70 venues participated, including record representation from NFL, MLB, and FIFA venues and accounting for approximately 40% of major US professional sport venues.

Over the past five years, SSI has been continuously refined to provide actionable insights for sports facilities, including stadiums, arenas, ballparks, and practice facilities. The survey also includes team-led initiatives and operational practices, where applicable.
Survey completion is typically a collaborative effort led by sustainability or facilities management teams, with additional input from departments such as community partnerships, procurement, and janitorial operations.

- Simplify year-over-year participation: SSI’s survey platform includes a pre-populated response feature that carries forward relevant responses from previous years. Venues that complete the full survey in their first year can reduce completion time by over 50% in future years.
- Participation and reports are free: To support continued progress in sports sustainability, participation, customized reports, and aggregated results are provided at no cost.
- Maintain data confidentiality: All responses remain confidential to the SSI project team. Results are reported only in aggregated and anonymized formats, allowing venues to share information with confidence.
