BG Group Floating LNG Unit
APTIM was awarded a contract for a concept assessment study for the topsides of a floating LNG facility for BG Group. The objective was to assess technical options, cost and execution schedule for a new-build Floating LNG unit (FLNG) capable of receiving partially processed gas and producing, storing and offloading LNG, LPG and condensate. The vessel is being considered for a number of potential locations worldwide, with a range of environmental conditions and water depths. For this study, a moderately severe environment and metocean conditions were assumed. A number of topsides throughputs and liquefaction options were considered. The results of this study were used to assess facility cost, execution schedule and uncertainties (threats and opportunities) and help to develop the pre-FEED work scope. The FLNG consists of a mooring system, hull and containment system, accommodation, gas inlet and treatment system, LNG process and utility systems, offloading systems, logistics and field operation supporting facilities. APTIM interfaced with another service provider for the hull and marine systems design.
