Missouri River L-575 Levee Repairs, USACE Omaha, Fremont County, Iowa

YEAR:

2020

LOCATION:

Fremont County, Iowa

APTIM is providing time-critical L-575 levee repairs for USACE Omaha District along the Missouri River to mitigate damage caused by record flooding. We are working along the entire length of the 40-mile levee, performing general repairs, structures inspections, seepage well testing and replacement, and surfacing of the levee. Most of the civil earthwork is concentrated around the breach repairs and the construction of new features such as seepage berms. We surpassed project expectations by closing Breach G ahead of schedule to beat a milestone date of a three months from NTP. This extremely challenging task involved moving 1+ million CY of material and installing more than one mile of sheet pile over 49 days in winter conditions to provide 100-year-level flood protection for surrounding communities. To-date, we have moved over 2-million CY of material.
